A lovely day trip. The first part of this path runs along the banks of the river Dão. Every bend in the river is followed by a bend in the Ecopista, with stannic views.

Option: Our package Descending Ecopista: We bring you and a bicycle by taxi-bus from Quinta da Abelenda to the beginning of the Ecopista in Viseu. Then you cycle back over the Ecopista to Quinta da Abelenda. It's 47 km to Quinta da Abelenda, almost all the way slowly descending. It will take you between 2,5 hours (without stops) and 5 hours (with stops).

Day trip from Luso / Bussaco by car and bicycle
Travel by car from Luso / Bussaco to Quinta da Abelenda (32 km) near Santa Comba Dão, at the Ecopista do Dão, this beautiful cycle path (old rail way) to Viseu.
Choose your bike - standard or mountain bike (both of good quality and 18 gears). You can change clothes in the bathhouse of Quinta da Abelenda if you like.
Cycle the Ecopista, this beautiful cycle path between Santa Comba Dão and Viseu. If you want to do only a part of the Ecopista do Dão, we recommend to bike to Tondela (20 km) where you can have a coffee or lunch. Before you start, we will give you some tourist information and useful tips. Because this cycle path used to be a railway, there are no steep slopes and it is very easy to cycle, although it is a mountainous area.
Route from Luso / Bussaco (32 km, 30 min.): Take the N234 in direction of Mortágua / Santa Comba Dão. In Santa Comba Dão turn right on the roundabout and take the IP3 in direction of Coimbra. About less then 1 km turn to Vimieiro. (Caution: This exit is very bad signalized, but is just after the bridge over the river Dão). Follow the signs "Agro-Turismo", passing the village Vale Vilão. When you are on the blue painted road, look for the sign "Abelenda" (just after the signal Km 47) where you turn right.
